Andy Dirks had a microdiscetomy and is expected to miss about 12 weeks for rehab. For Brad Ausmus, the question is who should start in left-field for Dirks? The possibilities to replace him are: Don Kelly, Rajai Davis and Steve Lombardozzi.
I personally would choose Rajai Davis. He seems to be the frontrunner and the Tigers have been really impressed with him during Spring Training. Davis has amazing speed on the bases and that will translate to speed and defense in the outfield. Imagine an outfield of Davis, Jackson and Hunter. Unreal.
The next candidate is Don Kelly. Everyone knows what Mr. Baseball brings to the table. He will bat at about .220 and will play a good defensive game. But I would rather see Lombardozzi instead of Kelly right now. I am really excited to see him in the Tigers uniform. I saw him play a little bit when he was in Washington and he was a great ballplayer. He has great offensive stats as well: .266 batting average and a .300 on-base-percentage.
